The post below is one of my personal favorites from years back. Google has me #2 in “hating mission statements” which just means I’m trying harder.
Here’s a challenge for you aspiring writers out there: try to write a more trite piece of prose than this mission statement that I found in one of our employee manuals:
At TempWorks Software, our mission is simple. We strive to differentiate ourselves in our market by achieving excellence in two areas: providing an unparalleled product and delivering superior customer service. We are dedicated to taking advantage of the best technology has to offer, molding that technology to meet the changing needs of the industry we serve, and rendering our product and services with integrity. By implementing this philosophy, we seek to maintain market dominance and become the company by which our competitors are measured.
