Americans are becoming increasingly obsessed with their mobile devices.

Nearly three out of four of us check our phones within a half hour of waking up, and one in four look at the device 50 times a day, according to a recent Deloitte survey on mobile consumer trends.

“While its common knowledge that consumers are addicted to their mobile devices, it turns out that consumers are truly more inseparable from their devices than previously thought," said Craig Wigginton, vice chairman and U.S telecommunications sector leader, Deloitte & Touche, LLP. "The sheer amount of times per day that consumers access their devices for various activities be it email, text messages or social networks is staggering.”

Americans are increasingly enjoying high-quality audio and video content for their mobile device, with the average person now using more than a gigabyte of data per month, and the majority of it allocated towards video.

On a weekly basis, 16% of consumers use their devices to stream video online.
