The Staffing Industry Is Back and Stronger Than Ever

And who better to provide the authenticity, the dependable connections, to make a great hire or find a new job than a staffing company?

Judging by the massive throngs out here in Las Vegas for the Staffing Industry’s Executive Forum, our industry is not only back, it’s stronger than ever.   By all accounts, this is the biggest and best show ever and kudos go to Staffing Industry Analysts for landing a perfect 10 on show organization.  As an exhibitor, my company, TempWorks has really benefited from working with SI’s indefatigable sales guy, Hugo Traeger.

Given that the economy is not fully back on its feet this sudden rise of our industry may surprise some, but the world of work is changing very fast and it’s got a lot of very industrious staffing professionals excited.

Everywhere you turn, every industry you study, every way of communicating you use is being turned on its head by sudden improvements in networking.   It’s not just the iPads and the 4G.  It’s not just the mobile technology or Skype.  It’s not just Facebook, LinkedIn that facilitate many of our relationships.  It’s all those things together plus the obvious conclusion that change isn’t going to stop any time soon.

In a few short decades, we’ve passed through phases of direct mail to phones, phones to faxing, faxing to email, email to social job boards, and job boards to social networks.  It all happens too fast now.   What is real and who can you trust?

And who better to provide the authenticity, the dependable connections, to make a great hire or find a new job than a staffing company?

Glad you had a good show Gregg. The recent Minnesota Recruiters Conference I have been writing about this week was well attended and full of lots of people who are very optimistic about the economy and the industry.

And I went to an online marketing seminar just last night and met a guy who owns and runs a technical recruiting and staffing firm. He specializes in placing Engineering, IT and Medical Device professionals in both contract and direct placement, and says he has all the work he can handle.

I am also seeing and hearing stories of sales and marketing budgets that have been locked tight the last couple of years suddenly being freed.

We can read the headlines and the numbers from the feds and still scratch our heads about the economy, but as you point out, there are real life anecdotes to support this new sign of economic life.

Yes, there are lots of ways to connect and interact and network with our wide range of constituents. I always love it though when some of the subjects of our Five Question Friday series say the most indispensable piece of technology they own and use is a phone. Some things will never change. This will always ultimately be a relationship business in some form or fashion, no matter the evolution in technology.

Gregg, I was a little surprised to read one line of your story though. Are you acknowledging LinkedIn as an effective way to facilitate relationships or did I read that wrong?
