You read that right, sexual harassment is technically legal in France right now.
The decision made by France’s highest constitutional body to repeal their sexual harassment law leaves alleged victims without legal protection until a new law is created.
They also threw out all pending and ongoing sexual harassment cases. So if you were in the middle of suing someone for sexual harassment, your case has been dropped. Basically they decided that the law was too vague and that it needed to be rewritten.
Instead of writing the new law with the current law still in effect, they decided to can the old law first. That leaves them in limbo for at least 2-3 months. During that time there is no sexual harassment law in France.
Can you even imagine what the atmosphere in your office would be like if people had no legal reason to behave themselves?

people having to be responsible for themselves….what a throw back. how did people ever get along without the government running thier lives? i realize that managers have been marginalized for many years now but maybe having some responsibility for emploees and to the business will help to grow a backbone again. if not fire them.
don’t be afraid paul…the sky isn’t falling and the office environment will be just fine. in fact. maybe much better when you consider the number of frivolous lawsuits that were spawned by such laws are dropped…there are consequences for bad behavior and they are seldom enhanced by overly aggressive lawyers exploiting poorly written laws…

msacco you sound like someone who is jealous you never got sexually harrassed yourself. how exactly do you fend for yourself when your boss keeps grabbing your ass?!! without SH laws my husband would have just killed him – think about that. a company will never fire a top money maker (ie: sales) over a “lowly” (but smokin’ hot) branch manager without the threat of a massive lawsuit. please continue to enlighten us with your infinite wisdom.
