Looking to help clients make better hires? Speed, mobile and video interviewing may be the answer.

This week as I headed out to meet the top executive recruiting firm here in the Twin Cities, Mark Luger did a quick interview with me about the convergence of video interviewing with mobile recruiting software and how speeding up the interviewing cycle can favorably impact quality hiring.

This notion that speed improves quality gets no boost from conventional recruiting wisdom. We hear all the time "hire slow and fire fast." But does that also mean that slow recruiting processes makes for better hires?

I put the question to the director of the search firm we met with. He places CEOs and CFOs mostly and we're talking with him about joining Aida's beta program.  

He primarily does local placements. His recruiting cycle is extremely long, and he works on retainer.  Although he didn't see video interviews radically impacting his CEO work, he got excited about video incorporated into mobile recruiting software.  

"My success comes from grooming top recruiters, and the high potential ones are totally into the mobile experience," he said.

"And speed is critical to many of our placements.  Great candidates don't stay in the market for long periods."
