In the early 1990s I travelled to Air India and Indian Airlines hawking my mainframe packages. Instead of me selling to them, everyone was trying to sell to me, including a really bright programmer who offered his services for a grand total of $1/hr.

Fast-forward 16 years and a quick look at my marketing data shows that not only has India entered the online world, but its activity dwarfs that of West Europe and Australia combined.
