The French face the same quandary as the USA when it comes to their undocumented immigrants: they can't live with them and can't live without them.

On one hand, they aggressively complain about the huge in flow of refugees, opportunity seekers and socialist benefit scroungers.   On the other, they aggressively exploit that same group for their labor.

Claire-Paris-Jazz, one of my favorite French twitter followers, caught that sentiment in a recent cartoon.  "None of that in Europe ('pas de ca en Europe')," declares the exasperated Frenchman at the site of immigrants making their way ashore.

But in the next sequence, he's a businessman, probably a temp agency or building contractor, who seemingly has a change of heart as he assures his client, "Don't worry, you'll get your temp labor".
