FORTUNE Magazine’s Top 5 Most Admired Companies In The Staffing Industry In 2011

FORTUNE Magazines Top 5 Most Admired Companies In The Staffing Industry In 2011In the most recent issue, FORTUNE Magazine has released the results of their annual Most Admired Companies list for 2011.  They break down the list by industry and, of course, we will focus our attention on the Temporary Help sector.

Guess who won?

If you guessed last year’s winner, Robert Half International, you would be wrong.  This year’s winner was last year’s runner-up: Manpower.

It is no surprise that Manpower was ranked #1, frankly.  They have been on the list for nine consecutive years.  The name Manpower has become synonymous with temporary help, much like Kleenex owns the tissue market.  With the staffing industry “going global” like it has been for the last few years, Manpower’s global outreach is unlike any other.

Jeffrey A. Joerres, Manpower Inc. Chairman and CEO echoes those sentiments: “What differentiates us in the marketplace is our ability to leverage our global footprint, our thought leadership and our understanding of the power of human potential to provide high-impact solutions to help those we serve achieve more than they imagined.”

Enough about the winner already!  You want to know who got the honorable mentions!

#2) Robert Half International

#3) Adecco Group

#4) Randstad Holding

#5) SFN Group (Spherion, Technisource, Tatum, The Mergis Group, SourceRight)

FORTUNE Magazine’s #1 ranked admired company overall is… wait for it… Apple.  They have been named the most admired company for the fourth consecutive year after dethroning GE in 2008.

I know, you’re shocked.  You can go ahead and pick your jaw up off the floor now.

kind of a softball story, eh Hardball? I wonder how much independence Fortune has between editorial, news and advertising. These top 50, top 10 etc stories are always suspicious.

Haha, Gregg, I can’t be a jerk all the time. That honor has been reserved for The Staffing Jerk.

This list is only for the major players in the industry. I’m sure the Top 5 are pretty much the same companies in a different order.

C’mon, I’m sure there is a HUGE firewall between editorial and advertising, and never the twain shall meet. Or something like that. Ethics dominates every journalistic conversation in the ranks of the mainstream media and is virtually all they think about. Or is that they never think about it? I don’t know, I get confused.

I do admire Manpower’s social presence – their blog on HR law further establishes it as a great corporate citizen…url: http://manpowerblogs.com/toth/

I’m curious what methodology is used to determine “most admired companies” in a particular industry? Please shed some light on this for me if you could.

Spherion? March 15, 2011 at 2:09 pm

Spherion is the sleeper on this list. Actually I wonder how they got there. Weren’t they just about out of business only two years ago?

Randstad and Spherion merged and retained the global Randstad brand.
