I read a Sam Walton biography a few years back and took from it a passion about taking care of clients and meeting their needs for low prices. I was also struck by the almost-fatal setbacks he had along the way, and how important getting the right people and the right systems in place were to their success.
It’s that art of balancing the entrepreneurial spirit with the need for infrastructure that set Wal-Mart apart. It’s largely true for staffing companies and for TempWorks as well. Too much infrastructure without sales is as troublesome as too much sales without infrastructure.
It’s easier to die from indigestion than starvation.
