All directions lead south…by southwest. Every year about this time Austin, Texas plays home to a trio of film interactive and music festivals and conferences called South by Southwest, or SXSW as it’s commonly referred to.
The 24-year-old event begins Friday, and runs through March 20. It’s considered to be one of the most influential events on the country’s annual cultural calendar, and this year over 30,000 people are expected to attend.
Why does South by Southwest matter? CNN says because, “It’s where hipster culture meets geek culture, and where internet entrepreneurs are treated like rock stars.”
