One branch manager was a backstabbing dragon lady, kept her cards held tight and took credit for everything. The other was altruistic to the core, always crediting her staff or her great payroll department. Which one got laid off when the budget cuts hit?
Great discussion going on along these lines at Slashdot.
Staffing Talk take: nice guys aren’t always as nice as they seem and the bad guys might not be bad, they may just not be into you that much. In my career I’ve had it go this way many times – the person who was unfriendly and constantly criticizing me ended up helping me get a big deal or push through an initiative. Meanwhile the ‘nice guy’ was nice to my face but either was a back-stabber or simply not in my court.
