Most blogs out there never get out of the starting gate much less reach page rank two, so I was amazed to see Tempworks’ very own Cory Hintz have his blog hit a page rank of three during its first year. Page rank is a measure of a Web page’s popularity.
One reason his blog rose so fast is because of Cory’s tenacious networking. He’s not just tooting the Tempworks horn as he does in this post about customer accolades or this one about wins over ADP.
Instead he constantly outlinks, and he does it with the deftness of a Michigan State fast break. Outlinking is the referencing of a web page outside of your own website, and people who do it well and a lot become focal points of network activity. In a Web world in which everyone is out for inbound links to make themselves appear popular, it’s the outlinkers that have got the right chemistry. Like they say, if you want a friend, be a friend.
