Chicago Teacher Strike: Govt Power Brokers 1, Kids 0

By almost all accounts, the teacher strike in Chicago was born out of a power struggle between a mayor and a union boss and has little to do with actual grievances of the teachers themselves nor the needs of the kids who already suffer from a 40% literacy rate.

I welcome comment from anyone closer to the situation there.  I’m not in Chicago but I was in New York over the weekend and got a taste of just how unions and the Left perceive themselves by going to see Newsies, one of the more acclaimed Broadway shows of the season, built off a ‘true’ story of the newspaper boy strike of 1899.

Spoiler alert.  Unless you strongly believe that unions together with big government are the only things that can save us from evil business people, make sure to bring a barf bag along with you to the show.   That or wear ear plugs and just enjoy the dancing.

As for the strike, I’m following Emily Zanotti  http://twitter.com/emzanotti for updates.
