Our Canadian competitor, StaffingEdge, gets blogging right. Transparent and informative, they put up this recent post about managing worker comp costs in the tight economy.
Temporary workers fear losing their assignments more than ever. No way is a worker going to quickly object, “Uh, I was sent here to work an assembly line, not to unpack 100-lb. crates.”
And so they do what is asked, and that means more injuries.
StaffingEdge cautions how to avoid that scenario:
“So what can you do? Talk to your client, ensuring that your temporary employees are still being supervised and trained appropriately. Ensure that the job that they were first assigned is the one that they are doing on site. Often, clients utilize the temporary workforce for jobs that may need to get done due to their own staff shortages, but are unaware that the temp may not be qualified for the task.”
Nice job on the blog, StaffingEdge, and kudos to your founder, Lou Duggan.
