How do the values of truth and transparency fare when the spotlight is on the blogger? Turns out, not so well.

Joel Cheesman, a popular blogger and critic of job boards, made it seem in a recent post that he had a scoop: job board company Jobfox was doing a layoff this month, less than two months after Jobfox PR director Barry Lawrence issued a press release claiming, “No further workforce adjustments are expected.”

Cheesy of Cheesman to make it look like a scoop when the info came directly from Jobfox CEO Rob McGovern.

I just checked the numbers for a cross section of staffing companies across North America: January YTY and MTM was catastrophic. I don’t know much about Jobfox nor care about them, but it’s not insincerity that changed their outlook from the December statement till now.
