What Can Augmented Reality Do For Your Staffing Company? How many of you are bored with regular reality? Who wouldn’t like to have their reality augmented?

No, I’m not talking about designer drugs, I’m talking about Augmented Reality technology.

Imagine you are looking for a job. You live very close to downtown and really want to work there. You have a few choices. You could:

  • Walk into the nearest staffing agency and hope that they have customers in that area.
  • Call staffing agencies all day asking if they have customers in that area. Hint: They won’t tell you.
  • Spend hours sifting through Craigslist ads, hoping the job descriptions aren’t posted by serial killers
  • Search high and low on Dice, Monster, Careerbuilder and the plethora of other job boards out there, applying to anonymous companies. Wait? Didn’t you apply to that job last week? It’s all becoming a blur.

Or, you could point your phone at the downtown buildings and voilà — job listings for those companies appear on your phone.

I knew you’d like that option.

Take it a step further. Not only can job openings appear on your phone, but you could also access useful information like videos, testimonials, Twitter feeds and much more. You could even fill out an application or schedule an interview!

That’s what I call Augmented Staffing.

One of the leaders in Augmented Reality, Layar, shows off their product in a variety of ways. One of my favorites? Displaying images from the past that overlay what you are actually looking at. Point your phone at an old building and see pictures of it from 100 years ago!

With companies becoming more accustomed to using social media and technology, it’s a never ending challenge to stick out from the competition. And while this technology has not yet been perfected, you can rest assured it’s on its way.

Although not mainstream, AR is a great way to differentiate at this point and has immediate application as you mention in location sensitive employment.

Mobile recruitment software developers are in a race to leverage the exploding growth in AR content, and HTML5 will make it all the easier to deploy these tools via mobile websites which will quickly displace installed apps.
