This story just in from the Staffing Talk guy in Sacramento.
As reported yesterday by the Sacramento Business Journal, industry giant Aertotek lost on all counts in a retrial of a case against a small Elk Grove staffing company.
Personally I wonder what’s up with Aerotek which a few years back was the king-of-the-hill of high growth staffing companies. These days at TempWorks we get unsolicited resumes regularly from staff there looking to leave.

just a quick search reveals that Aerotek, Inc has been involved (as defendant and plaintiff) with the courts quite a bit in 2010 and now in 2011 from everything to job discrimination, contract disputes, pulling credit reports unsolicited, trade secrets, and a slew of other labor law actions. Many of Aerotek’s actions end in settlement out of court. Anyone who is or has been involved in litigation knows how expensive it is. This can’t be good for business.

I think they should have taken the 40k in breach damages and been done with it. Now they’re left with nothing from the time and money put into this case, nothing but their own greed. With their pride shattered, they are moving forward with an ill-fated appeal.

Aerotek may just be going down for the count. There can be a fine line between trade secrets and significant job experience in some cases and it is dependent on a jury to decide the nature of the action(s). Confidential client information can mean quite a bit though many companies have lost recent cases due to a lack of organization and effort to keep said information confidential, a proven policy, regimen, routine. At this point, moving forward with the case on appeal seems like a personal vendetta and you have to ask yourself what do they, as a company, stand to gain? Seems like they want to teach their employees(former and current) a lesson the court system and jury just won’t abide.

I am really happy about this actually. I used to work there and I will say WORST PLACE TO WORK EVER! Terrible work envrionment…I would compare it to college. Basically when you work there you feel like you are rushing to be in a fraternity, no joke. Management doesnt know what they are doing. Sorry Aerotek….more like Aerosuck!
